Start the Day on High

The way you start the day can dictate how the day will end up so start the day on high! After all, it’s up to you. When we wake up each morning we should be thankful just for waking up. According to the CIA World Fact Book approximately 155,000 people across the world do not wake up each morning. This number represents the global daily death rate. An attitude of gratitude can go a long way towards having a great day.

Secondly, make goal setting a daily activity. This should only take a few minutes and the benefits you will gain are enormous. Make a list of realistic goals that you would like to accomplish by the end of the day. Let your goals focus and guide your behavior throughout the day. At the end of the day review your list and cross off the items that you have completed. Don’t forget to celebrate your accomplishments! Now re-evaluate the goals that you did not complete to see if they are still meaningful to your long term plans. Eliminate the ones that are no longer needed. Any goals that are left on your list should be carried over to the next day. Prioritize your list each day making sure to accomplish the most urgent goals first.

This process is very motivating because it allows you to celebrate just how much you accomplish each day. If you are not as productive as you would like to be, this process will increase your awareness and provide you with an opportunity to make adjustments. Understanding how to set goals both long term and short term is essential to your success. Make it a great day!
